How to wear- The Italian Bob

Tight for time? Scrunch a little sugar spray in and let it air dry for that lived in Parisian feel. Ideal for those early morning school runs.

Those warm summer evenings when we can hopefully eat out again? Add a dollop of mousse, rough dry and flip to a deep side part for volume and movement reminiscent of the 60’s…

We asked a few of our clients if they wouldn’t mind giving their daily hair routine for The Italian bob. What products they like to apply for texture and their preferred methods of drying.

Hopefully there is a little something you can take away to try on your own hair!

Sarah- I’m not blowdrying it at all.

I use a couple of spritz of Lee Stafford Sea Salt Spray on dry hair. I wait a couple of minutes and let it settle in.

Then after it’s dried in my hair I use a smidge of Cantu Moisturising Curl Activator cream.

This cream is amazing! It’s actually for Afro hair but it works well on my kind of hair too.

But I only use a tiny smidge otherwise it’s quite heavy on the hair.

Sarah (Coincidence lol).

Before meeting Nick and Sean, I always dried my hair using my Dyson hairdryer, which I still love – but now I try my best to let it air dry as often as possible.

I do very little to style my hair. If I’m going out I’ll use a sugar or sea salt spray to give it some texture but day to day I do nothing to it.

The beauty of the cut means it’s already styled and I love this look for being simple and easy to manage. At the moment I’m using a plant based soap bar to wash my hair and once a week I use a scalp scrub to stimulate hair growth.

Tessa-

I try and let my hair air dry and run some oil through it when damp as I have quite naturally frizzy hair (LIKE A WILD BEAST MATE).

I love the everything cream for adding texture and smoothing out the hair. I’ll tong some bits but way prefer the undone look and want avoid more damage as being blonde is a Bishhhhh.

Favourite hair days are a day or so after washing and adding some dry shampoo. Bed head for LYFE.

Chess-

I put in the Kerastase aura botanical cream and scrunch it up which I love and air dry for natural waves.

And a tiny tiny bit of the Shu Uemura mousse to add a bit of gritty text.

This has been the most miraculous haircut of my life. It looks beautiful, shows my natural wavy hair and it takes no maintenance at all.

After the shower, I use a pea size amount of Cantu Moisturising cream mixed with another pea size of Living Proof 5in1 and plop my hair before letting it air dry.

I haven’t used a hair dryer in a year and I finally love my natural hair!

Paula-

The best thing about this haircut is that it always looks full of volume and it is os easy to maintain.

After washing it, I usually apply a bit of salty cream by Maria Nila and the salty mist by her also.

I either leave it to dry naturally or rough dry it upside down. It’s so easy and the messier the better as it always holds it’s shape thanks to the genius way it has been cut. It’s even better the next day with dry shampoo and a quick flick to one side. So easy which is what I need for the early morning school run.

I'll usually scrunch my hair with a bit of the Superdrug volume and curl styling mousse and just air dry it/sometimes diffuse it with a hair dryer until partially dry.

Then I rub a bit of the Sandcastle R&Co dry texture creme through it so it feels a little less 'fresh'/more lived in.

Harriet- Ok so basically ‘ Day to day’ I wash and then rough dry my hair 80% dry and leave it .

  • I may occasionally smooth just the front with a round brush if have time! I don’t tend to use any product and feel my hair looks at it’s fullest and thickest when I do this.

  • When I’m going out I would either roughly tong my hair just grabbing sections or I would blow dry the roots with round brush for more volume look and again only use hair spray at the end.

I basically do nothing with it having a toddler and 8 months pregnant 🤦🏻‍♀️

Hana-

Since Nick started cutting my hair, styling is so easy: shampoo, brush and air-dry, tucked behind my ears.

Sometimes I will add salt spray in the winter when it tends to dry more straight.

Products

  1. Hairstory Hair Balm - love this combed through after using the Hairstory New Wash. It's working really well for my curls and my scalp, after trying so many different shampoos, conditioners it's nice to have an all-in-1 which is also simple ingredients.

  2. Umberto Giannini Curl Scrunching Jelly - love this for when I need a little bit more extra hold or know I've touched it too much and know there will be frizzies!

  3. Pantene Waterless Perfectly Undone Texturizing Sugar Hair Spray - I find this is the closest to the old Kérastase Aura Botanica sugar spray and spray into my hands first then scrunch into half dry hair.

Drying tips/hacks

Once I have washed my hair, I like to tip my head upside down and rinse again as I find this best for my scalp and forming the curls. I then flip back over, run a comb through it and wring out the excess water by running my hair through my palms.

If I have the time I'll leave it to air dry, and apply the balm/jelly/sugar spray and comb through with a Denman brush. If I don't have enough time I'll dry off my fringe to 80% by drying to the left and right then down. Then I'll go in with a diffuser upside down and dry to about 70% to leave the rest of the hair to air dry.

The best hack I have that Sean showed me is to tip my head upside down and shake, bring back up and apply some styling product to breathe back in some curly back to life!

Still loving my haircut by the way!! X
